Sunday, March 7-- Spend this Sunday at leisure in Anchorage enjoying the many offerings of Alaska's largest city. Your local tour director will provide information on cold weather gear rentals in preparation for the incredible outdoor experience on Monday. Overnight in Anchorage.

Monday, March 8 -- On Monday morning, transfer to the airport for a flightseeing tour experience to beat all others! Depart Anchorage and travel north via a small plane on skis and intercept the Iditarod Trail. Get an eagles' eye view of the trail as you watch mushers and their teams. Land at Finger Lake, one of the official checkpoints along the Iditarod Trail (location of landing based on weather conditions). This total outdoor experience will provide an opportunity to observe activities at a remote checkpoint including watching the leaders pass by and perhaps a chance meeting, depending on checkpoint stops. Return to Anchorage in the mid-afternoon and transfer to your hotel for overnight accommodations.

Sunday, March 7-- Fly north across the Arctic Circle to the ancient Inupiat Eskimo village of Barrow and receive an official Arctic Circle Certificate. In Barrow a local guide will greet you and provide an orientation and time to explore on your own.

Get a firsthand glimpse of the lifestyle of Alaska's Arctic Coastal people with a tour of the village. Pass through a traditional hunting camp, visit a historic whaling safety station, and walk the frozen shores of the Arctic Ocean near the northernmost point in North America. Relax at the comfortable accommodations of the Top of the World Hotel. Enjoy leisure time to dine and shop in the village. When conditions allow, take a late evening Northern Lights tour to scan the night sky for the Aurora Borealis.

Monday, March 8 -- Depart Barrow the following day on a mid-morning return flight to Anchorage. This tour can be a one day adventure from Anchorage as well.
