Because of the pristine location and sporting opportunities, Kenai, Soldotna, and it's surrounding communities are the summer playgrounds of many of the state's local residents. Visitors also congregate here for a variety of reasons. Fishing, both saltwater and freshwater, bring the majority of locals and guests to these lovely areas located on Cook Inlet and many guide services are available to assist you in catching your trophy.
Campgrounds and recreation sights are numerous. The Kenai National Wildlife Refuge is an excellent place to explore for a day, a week or more. Developed facilities are available year round for visitors who want to view exquisite lakes, glaciers, mountains and a large variety of wildlife.
Nearby Clam Gulch is a fun stop for people of all ages who enjoy digging for their own fresh clams. Bring your shovel and a tide book. Local restaurants can assist those who enjoy the eating part but not the digging part.
