Public Rental Cabins

Public rental cabins are available in several state parks. There are cabins at Chena River State Recreation Area near Fairbanks and Nancy Lake State Recreation Area near Wasilla. These can be reached by car. Cabins in Oliver Inlet State Marine Park and Grindall Island State Marine Park in Southeast Alaska, Shuyak Island State Park north of Kodiak, and Kachemak Bay State Park near Homer, are accesible by plane or boat only. The cabin at Caines Head State Recreation Area is accessible by boat, plane, or foot trail.

  1. Cabins can be reserved up to six (6) months in advance of the first day of intended use.
  2. Cabins may be used only by those who have a reservation and have paid the rental fee. You must have your permit with you during your stay at the cabin.
  3. Reservations are accepted only when the full amount is paid. Payment can be made in person or by mail.
  4. Cabin fees are used directly for maintenance of Alaska State Parks public use cabins.
