Public rental cabins are available in several state parks. There are cabins at Chena River State Recreation Area near Fairbanks and Nancy Lake State Recreation Area near Wasilla. These can be reached by car. Cabins in Oliver Inlet State Marine Park and Grindall Island State Marine Park in Southeast Alaska; Shuyak Island State Park north of Kodiak; and Kachemak Bay State Park near Homer, are accesible by plane or boat only. The cabin at Caines Head State Recreation Area is accessible by boat, plane, or foot trail.
